Hello There! I’m Dr. Mex, or just Mex. I’ve been performing magic professionally for over three decades, with a particular passion for mentalism. There’s something about the psychology, subtlety, and theatricality of it that’s always drawn me in. While I enjoy all forms of magic (except kids’ magic, I hate kids!), mentalism is where my heart truly lies.
I was lucky enough to have two incredible mentors who shaped my approach to the art: Patrick Page and Roy Walton. Patrick taught me the value of storytelling and how to captivate an audience, while Roy showed me the beauty of creativity and precision in magic. Their lessons have stuck with me and continue to influence my work to this day.
In addition to performing, I’ve dedicated a significant amount of time to building and supporting the magic community. I ran the Peoples Palace of Prestidigitation, taking it from a tiny Discord server to the largest independent magic Discord community. It became a thriving space where magicians from around the world could connect, share ideas, and learn from one another. I put a lot into it: time, money, and effort, even funding and shipping prizes for monthly competitions out of my own pocket.
Mentoring other magicians is another passion of mine. Whether it’s in person or online, I love helping others refine their skills and develop their own unique style. There’s nothing quite like seeing someone grow into their potential.
You might also know me as a hypnotherapist. It started as a way to enhance my mentalism, but it quickly became its own path. These days, I run The Hypnotherapy Hub, helping people make positive changes in their lives. It’s a separate pursuit from magic, but it’s given me a unique perspective on the human mind and how we perceive the impossible.
